I am coming up on my 2 year Verizon cell phone anniversary and thus will be out of contract. My calling plan has 400 minutes which my wife and I share. Verizon now has the same plan except with 500 minutes for the same price I'm payng now ($60/ month). We also need new phones.

Verizon has a "new every 2" program which puts $100 towards the purchase of new phone(s).

Switching to the other plan requires a new 1 year agreement as does the $100 phone credit (I think). Since $100 doesn't go far when needing to buy 2 new phones I was thinking of just cancelling and re-signing for a new 2 years to get a better deal on phones etc.

Any other options I missed? I pretty much want to stay w/ Verizon as they have the most extensive nationwide coverage (I could be wrong here as well).

Maybe some of you have had experience in this area already

You only get the up to $100 off the phone if you sign a two year contract and only towards the primary line. You can combine it with mail in rebates and bogo offers.

Sounds like there is little incentive NOT to switch carriers or just resign since they require a new contract anyways
