I can't for the life of me remember how this is set in my bios lol. would I notice if it was on or off without checking? I looked it up and dunno if I would even notice.

Has anyone compared it both on and off while gaming? And could you specify your system too, please, and game :)

compare what? fps? mouselag? input delay?

what should we look for?

pretty much all you mentioned.. another would be micro-stutter. The micro-stutter I've found does NOT relate to fps, which all to often which it's associated with.

Ok so it turns out I always had it on. I turned it off and don't notice a difference. Games I tried still played fine and felt fine. No increase or decrease in performance as far as I could tell.

I did have one point where Crysis 3 was loading a scripted scene (soldiers jumping out of a heli) and it paused. Could be a fluke, I could not reproduce it.

Hmm. Interesting. I read that X58 & ICH9, &10 had problems with HPET.. wasn't specific.. probably more the OS implementation as I've heard more than once.. if I find the statements i'll link it, but dont' know how reliable they are
