Which online offering is better?

Wasn't there already a thread about this?
EDIT: Sorry, that was for offline offerings. I'd say the XboX 360 has the better online offerings. C'mon, it has the original Doom on the arcade. 😛

Because the Wii really doesn't have much of an online offering at this point. Sure you can download games but you can't play them online.

Xbox 360 by far has the best online right now. I hardly ever have lag except for when I'm playing with Europeans. I guess the $50 can be a drawback, but it really isn't that bad.

The Xbox360 is better by far IMO. Gamertags, friends list, the Arcade, the Marketplace, the amount of downloadable content.....Sony may catch up with this feature list one day, but not right now.

Right now Live has an advantage (being out for several years)But Sony does seem to be trying to catch up using Home.

The latest patch is cool. It lets you do everything on the PS3 wirelessly using the PSP.

PS3, online is the main reason I will probably get a PS3 instead of a 360(probably after the first pricedrop). I just don't see myself paying to play online on top of paying for an internet connection.

I just wish I could find a PS3 game I want to play online. 😉

I got to borrow a PS3 from a friend of mine for a few weeks and Xbox Live blows it away. Rather pay 50 a year then get there free online crap.

Well, i have to say that's MORONIC. You say 'free' is better, but then you can't find a game to play online so you can take advantage of the 'free' service?

At this point in time, i would say 360 far surpasses the PS3 in online play. Maybe in the future, the PS3 can compete... which i'm really really hoping for, since that might make Microsoft drop the fee all together (they'll still make money from the marketplace). But atm, $50/yr for all that Live offers is pretty damn good deal.

In my personal opinion I do not think that the Ps3 will have that great of a library of exclusives because the developers right now look at which console is selling the most so they can develop games for that console. No developer wants to do the waiting game too long thus losing money... why else do you think the Ps3 lost so many exclusives thus far? Though do not get me wrong, the Ps3 will have some great exclusives but not as many as it has had in the past with the playstation 2.

So all in all the 360 will have better exclusive games with a unified online gameplay versus the Ps3 which does not have unified online play and alot less exclusives thus making the 360 a much better buy right now... but in the future that may change...

Not really. I'm mostly play single player and rarely play Multiplayer. I have Crackdown and played the Halo 3 beta about three times. 😉 The last game I played online before that was Gears of War, and before that, pretty much nothing. 🙂 The PS3 will eventually have a game or two I want to play online and they will be free to play. *crosses fingers*. When I do play Multi, it usually Co-op and usually on the same console with a person sitting next to me.

I guess if you are a hardcore live guy, you may feel different, but i don't think I will renew my Live subscription when it runs out. As an old school PC gamer, I don't think I've acquired a taste for paying to play online. That is SOOOOO 1996! Remember TEN and Mplayer? 😉 Lets not EVEN get into travashamockery that is micro transactions.

PS3's online will only get better as time goes on (Home, for one), it's free, it's pretty fast (used to be slow)...Playing Resistance online is excellent.

I will admin, 360 has the better service currently, but I wouldn't pay for it.

So, technically my vote goes for 360, but I put down PS3. I think it will have the best service for the best price (free) in a couple years.

I'm willing to bet XBL will go free in a couple years. The way they're trying to integrate Games For Windows Live just doesn't make sense to have a paid service.

ps3, had 360 wasnt anything much. I dont like to hear a bunch of whiney little c*cksuckers jabbering on and on and its nothing to do with a game. I dont want to pay $50 a year for that bs.

I have never played on Live, so I can't comment. Then again, I am content with PSN and I would never pay $50 on top of my internet service just so I can play games online. PSN let's me see what games my friends are playing, use voice chat, and invite them for a game, so I am satisfied.

And Home is coming soon.

Good thing that is your personal opinion. See if you can come up with 100 exclusives for Xbox 360. 😉

Between XBLA games and retail games, I think it has surpassed 100 already. This very incomplete list shows 62 games already. That took about two seconds of searching to find too. 😛

I'm sorry, but while I think the 360 has some good exclusive games, I can not count XBLA games as exclusive for a bunch of reasons. First off, most of them are on other(outdated)systems, and they are not nearly the same as an XBOX 360 game, just a port or something similar(UNO, lol)

Dacalo's list includes PSN games. Using the standards set by that list, it is only fair to count XBLA games as well. As far as loling about UNO, it is still one of the most consistently played games on XBLA...in the top 10 every week since it was released. Why? Because it is a great/addicting casual party game to play online.

There are still plenty of other XBLA games that are completely original - Cloning Clyde, Mad Tracks, Boom Boom Rocket, Geometry Wars, Small Arms, 3D Ultra Minigolf, Catan, Eets, Outpost Kaloki X, etc. There are even more original XBLA games on the way too with Castle Crashers, Wing Commander Arena, Alhambra, Carcassone, Talisman, Space Giraffe, Band of Bugs, Butterfly Garden, etc.

I love how people b!tch about $50 PER YEAR, and apparently aren't that concerned about money when it comes to buying a freakin' $600 console. WTF is that about? XBox Live is far and away better than PSN. There is just no comparison.

Sony systems have lifespans of at least 6 years. That's $300 on top of the $399 price tag for the 360. That's not including the hardware features that the premium lacks compared to the PS3.
