Palamino cores - the .18 micron die are the SQUARE ones - on XP 1500 up to XP2100.
The T'Bred 'A' was the first .13 Micron core, it is slightly smaller, and RECTANGULAR, not square, for the XP2200+.
They quickly redesigned and built in an extra metal layer, as they were having development problems - hence 'Rev. B'
In the rush to produce a bunch of 'Good' XP2200's and move up to the Barton cores for the XP24xx and up,
there appears to have been an overproduction, so the release of T'bred XP1700+'s have what most likely are
de-tuned XP2400+'s where the
locking feature is ON below mulitplier X12 - but there is NO LOCKING ABOVE X12.5.
There are reports of the XP1700+ being installed, BIOS features turned on to set multipliers at 13 or 13.5 and the
BIOS reporting the chip to be an XP2400 or an XP2600, not too shabby for a
$ 59 CPU.
AMD is backfilling the XP1700+ Paliminos with the revised XP1700+'s as T'Breds. Gotta get one.
