I am going to build a new rig but I need a honest opinion.. I want to put a gaming system together for a pal of mine and I want to use one of these two boards.. Asus P4P800-E Deluxe or MSI 875P Ne0-FISR (PCB 2.0). It has to be one of those two boards because another pal of mine wants to sell one of the two to me for about 80.00 bucks. Thanks so much for your help

I generally prefer Asus over MSI, although some people rave about their MSI boards.

well, I have a few P4P800 powered systems at work, and they fly.

MSI is a sort of hit and miss company. Basically, they make low quality electronics, but every once and a while they slip up and produce something good. Or that is to say, their manufacturer does. Say what you will about MSI designs, they don't help one bit if they cheap out in the actual production of their boards. Asus is about as high quality as they get for AMD boards, which isn't to say that they are actually that great, unfortunately. Just better than all the other jokers.

I have an msi 865pe neo2 LS (about $80 pricewatch), and it runs almost flawlessly. My 2.8c is running at 3640 with a 300w sparkle power supply. It has almost everything built in but firewire or raid. The voltage adjustments are amazing, but I agree about quality. Some msi boards aren't as reliable, but their customer service is first rate. They sent me this board free after some older replacement boards failed. I used their live update for bios upgrades twice while running windows, and it worked beautifully.

MSI  i have three comps at home running GREAT,have used for three years now,all manufactures have probs, but most probs{not all}are self {consumer} inflicted, and/or lack of experence !

Best to get quality componets {not cheap} for a comp build !

MSI is not a hit and miss company, all of their cards and boards are amazing.

thanks everybody.... I decided to go with the P4P800-E Deluxe. ONLY cause the bios chip is not solderd on the P4P800-E Deluxe board but the MSI 875P Ne0-FISR (PCB 2.0) board has it solderd. So, incase of a corrupt bios CHIP, I wont have to send my board in with asus.. thanks againg every one

Oh really? Then why do so many people have to RMA board after buggy board? Maybe if you bothered paying any attention, you would have seen I was talking about the PRODUCTION of MSI products, not the design.

its a 2:1 ratio. For every two msi boads that are faulty there is one that is solid.

I liked my MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum till the floppy disk controller failed and I cannot reach MSI technical support on the phone. Many tries they make it so you can't reach them and must go through the internet so if you dont have an extra pc and your mobo is hosed I dont know what you would do. Going back to Asus I think since they pick up the phone.
