Which one would you pick?

Which do you think is a better buy keeping in mind future upgrade paths.

Being more on the newbie side, I cant find any salient differences ('cept the $10). Thanks.

ASUS or ABIT

The ASUS comes with a higher quality sound codec. If you have an audgy sound card - this is worthless.

I'm an Abit man all the way, but I have nothing but respect for Asus. Either way you can't go wrong.

Is this a new build ? Do you want to stay w/ agp ? Some 939 NF4 SLI mobo's are out now, but in about another month the NF4 ultra's will be out.
If you want to jump on the pci-e platform it's best to wait just a bit longer. That way you could get a pci-e video card to move you from system to system as you
upgrade in the future.

From the two choices. I personally would go with the ASUS. If you have nothing better to do with your time, and feel like hunting down obscure BIOS's and what not, go with the Abit.

They are both good, either way you get a good product, I would elan towards ASUS though, for no particular reason

From personal experience, ASUS tech support is crap. Their products are pretty good, but if you need help, watch out.

Out of the 2, Asus is actually more expensive and feature rich, for only a bit more in those deals, the asus is somewhat of a steal, too bad they didn't offer a 90nm cpu though.

Abit boards have been very clean and super reliable with me. ASUS has been the same, more or less, but never a problem with Abit that wasn't my fault. Pick the one that suits your needs the best and go for it. You won't regret either option.

I'd go with nf4-sli mobo for future proofing but there's only 2 boardmakers with current offering.

I just looked up the bios for my 4-year old Abit mobo on Abit's website. It was easily found, along with 4 bios versions and flashmenu, a utility to flash the bios in windows. How much easier is that? I use a much newer Abit board today. Haven't had to use their customer service yet, but as I understand it they are top notch.
