Hello;

Tried to look for Multipurpose oil but unfortunately I didn't find any. I chose three which I believe might work:

I use silicone lube, but I'm sure any lube will work fine. I use a syringe to apply it thru the label in the back so I don't have to peel the label off. Every couple of years one of my many AP15s gets noisy, a lil shot with the syringe and its all quiet again.

I have heard contact cleaners or wd40 should not be used.

You shouldn't need to lube those fans - they're generally sealed bearings.

Replacing them when they go bad isn't a bad idea though.

I also found "Sewing machine oil." to work best.
And if you can find it in synthetic even better it does not dry as fast.

BTW, WD40 (regular) is not a solvent, Its just happens to work similarly.
Also dries fast and gums up.

That's the problem I had with sewing machine oil it dried out so I used synthetic motor oil instead.

I've had good luck with gear oil. It does not contain detergents but usually has the friction modifier agents.

You can't answer this question without knowing what fan it is, and who made it.
