I never bother looking into them until I got beaten by one

But anyway, which one is better?

The Celica GT-S runs very low 14s with Intake, header, Exhaust! Holy crap.

THe RSX Type S is pretty much the same right?

Which one respond better to turbo? Since both of them are running extremely high compression. Should i just get the base model and turbo it since their cylinder compression is lower?

Forget both, if your prelude doesn't have an h22 it's about time for one. :D

....vroom vroom....

LOL! Saved me the trouble:p

Edit: The 2ZZ Celica motor is not nearly as robust as a K-series.

it's all up to the styling. personally i like the celica's design a lot more, but the new RSX-S will have 210 horses. the GTS has 170 i think.

how about a much cheaper scion tC?

Stock for stock, or with the same bolt ons, the celica GTS is a pretty respectable sporty car and holds its own against the RSX-S.

That being said, if serious mods are at all in your plans, the RSX-S is a much better platform. Unfortunately, there aren't many mods for the GTS/2zz powertrain and the K20A in the RSX has nearly unlimited mods.

If FI is in your plans, get a K24 accord short block. It gives you .4L more displacement, gives 30+ WTQ alone, and lowers compression, making it easier to go turbo or SC. The junkyard cost is typically ~$700 and is considered basically a bolt together job.

Also the RSX is ground zero for honda ECU tuning, Hondata is an established name that mods ECUs and offers a reprogrammable one called the K-pro so you can easily tune the engine to your specific mods. The celica unfortunately has nothing like this.

Also, don't buy a base RSX, the motor in that is generally considered the worst K series engine you can get.

If you're going to modify it (as in, turbo), don't even bother with a Honda or Celica... a turbo dsm or 240sx w/ sr20 would be much better.

The celica, looks better, drives better, sounds better, much better interior, I could keep the list going. I have driven both the GT-S 6spd and the RSX Type S.

The RSX looks boring imho, it's like a civic molded into a sport compact.

Celica track times and mods

The celica can be pretty quick very, very easily and 12's are nothing to laugh at after adding a turbo charger. However, the car is still somewhat limited by fwd being that it's harder to launch using the front wheels only.

If you do turbo-charge, either run at very low boost or buy low compression pistons like 7.5:1 for example.

Celica by far, wicked awesome car outside and in. And 180hp from a 1.8L engine is not bad at all. About the same hp/L ratio as the RSX though, being that the RSX outputs 200hp from a 2.0L.

Man, and turbo and a 2ZZ is a terrible idea. You wonder why Toyota had to lower the rev limiter........

Depending on my money situation, either my next mod will be an H22 swap or a new car, yeah, wide range, I know

Not only that, but the tranny tops out at about 250hp reliably. :(
