My computer was running flawlessly until I made these changes (all within a 1 week period):
Replaced WD 6.4GB with Maxtor 30GB 7200 ATA/100.
Added Promise ULTRA ATA/100 controller with newest BIOS and drivers.
Replaced Celeron 333@500 with 566@850.
Added 128MB PC-133 module.
Replaced Encore 10BT NIC with SMC EtherpowerII 10/100 NIC with newest drivers.
Flashed MB BIOS with newest version.
My problem: About once-a-week my system will give the message during startup: "The registry cannot load the hive file Systemroot\System32\Config\SOFTWARE. It is corrupt, absent, or not writable.".
The emergency repair disk doesn't fix the problem and I have to re-load Windows each time.
I know its not due to overclocking because the last time I re-loaded Windows I left it at default speed and the problem occurred again. ANY HELP??
