sorry i forgot to mention my rig... would 430w easily power a 6800 ultra card on my system? i know about the seasonics but they are way out of my $ range. i dont need a psu that is dead silent, but i also dont want a motor running in my tower...

something you would consider satisfactory in terms of noise

Just put the 400w version of this in a rig. It is dead silent, has every kind of connector you could want, and even has a little gizmo that lets you kook up as many as 4 case fans and run them for a couple of minutes after shutdown.

RE: Seasonic S12-430, check out this review: http://www.silentpcreview.com/article226-page1.html

and I quote:

Seasonic's S12 series was recently introduced as a replacement for the now >18 month old Super Tornado series. It shares much with the earlier series, but does everything just a little bit better. The 430, the middle of five models, is about the quietest fan-cooled PSU we've reviewed, by a small margin, and also one of the most efficient.

should this seasonic 430 model easily power my setup?

i was looking at the specs of this model. aren't the amps rated a lil low for 12v?

Heck yes.

The S12 430 has two 12v rails, rail 1 at 14 amps and rail 2 at 15 amps. That should be plenty of juice.

BTW, the Fortron Blue Storm is a solid PSU, but it is still quite a few decibels (remember it's logarithmic) louder than the Seasonic Super Tornado/S12 at similar power draw levels. The review for the Fortron Blue Storm at Silent PC Review is HERE.

If you want quiet, Seasonic all the way. Can't go wrong with Seasonic if you are looking for quiet yet powerful.
