Uhh...I don't know which one is grammatically correct but the first one of the first set makes me stumble when I read it. So I'd say the second in the first sentence. And the second in the second sentence as well.
 
She offered him to join our group, but we refused the offer - He was vital to her project team's operation.
She offered for him to join our group, but we didn't need an extra hand.

I was staid by her quiet daunting.
Leaning over the edge of the cliff was quite daunting.
 
the cardinal rule of usage is that understanding trumps all. As such, the first, while technically correct, is awkard. go II.
