So which PCI (not PCI-E) video card will get the better performance?

It is for running DirectX 9 games

They all cost the same, as in both 256mb cost the same for nvidia & ati, as well as the 128mb cost the same between ati & nvidia

Thx

ATI Radeon 9250 / 256MB

NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 / 128MB
ATI Radeon 9250 / 128MB

look for a pci 6200. otherwise, go with the 9250/9200

Also, if you look really relaly hard, I believe nVidia made limited amounts of fx5700s in pci.

how about the NVIDIA GeForce FX 5500 / 256MB?
or the NVIDIA GeForce 6200 / 128MB?

the X1300 is not worth it for an old rig, way over $100

the AGP port is busted it was originally running an AGP ATI 9800 XT

The X1300 will probably perform the best. The 6200 will be a lot better than the 5200... not sure about the 5500. Try to dig up some old benchmarks and see how they stack up.

Having 256MB on one of these cards is a joke. They can't come close to using that much memory effectively, not to mention that they often use slower memory on the 256MB versions -- which will give worse performance.

It barely makes a difference on a RADEON 9800 or GeForce 6800...

fx5200 / fx5500 is a joke. don't get one. The 5500 is just an overclocked 5200; the 6200 will still sweep the floor with it. I wasn't aware the x1300 was availible in PCI, but if it is, that is definately the one to go for. Perhaps it'd be easiest to do a mobo swap and just use your 9800xt?

I've been thinking about that as well
but this one has onBoard SCSI and is a duallie slot 1 (Dual PIII-1.00 Ghz)

all the boards i've see does not have SCSI, and spending money on a mobo+scsi card
it'll cost the same if not more than just swapping the Video :D

just swapping out the video card will never get you as much performance as that 9800xt since you're limited to pci. The best choice would be to get a new mobo that can support agp.

Those cards are all horrible options IMO.
If you've got an AGP slot you're much better just getting a used DX 7 or 8 card ..

maybe a Geforce 4 TI4200, or a Geforce 3
They will be much faster than the 5200 or 9250, and they should be a lot cheaper.
