A week ago i started having random reboots and lockups etc, like i was OCing. Sometimes it even refused to POST. I did everything i could imagine, but the problem persisted.
Then i noticed my CPU had only 1.36V vCore with stock settings. In bios it says it should be 1.400V though.
This value fluctuates a lot when monitored with CPU-Z, between 1.366V-1.408V. With an ASUS A8N-E box, it sits at 1.400V almost all the time, an odd 1.406V every now and then.

The processor is 3500+ winchester, and the motherboard is MSI Neo4 Platinum. All parts are about 2 years old.

This one. I set the vCore higher:
VID: 1.350V
6.6% over VID

That should be 1.439V IIRC, but BIOS showed 1.37V-1.44V! High fluctuation.

STOP: 0x0000008E BSOD just after boot to windows.

Try #2:
VID: 1.450V

Booted fine, ill do some light gaming now, and ill report back if it BSODs again.
CPUZ vCore 1.392V-1.440V, this seems acceptable. Thx for the fast reply. Im running:
AMD 3500+ winny
GeForce 6800GT
1GB ram
4HDs
1 optical
2x 15A 12V rails IIRC.

Yes, RAM's rated 2-2-2-5, but i switched to 2.5-3-3-7 just in case as soon as probs started. Memtest tests 5 and 8 ran 10 passes each 0 errs. With 2-2-3-5 too.

After some stressing: Hmm, it seems stable now, but what might be causing it? A VID of 1.450V translates to 1.4V-1.45V...
