sup all .. i am kinda noob to intel processor.. never had one.. but since AMD and ATI melt is really depressing me and giving me a huge let down.. I was thinking on going Intel with Nvidia...

but i dunno which one is faster for a multigpu computer... the E8200 dual core or the Q6600 quad... I am kinda confuse the dual core have more FSB and smaller lithography but just 2 cores compared to the 4 cores of the quad...

by the way the Q9300 looks so sweet

To put it simply, newer technology is always faster, assuming clockspeeds are roughly the same, and sometimes (P4 vs C2D), even if they aren't.

edit: Or did you mean which is better, quad-core or dual-core? For the majority of games out now, a higher clocked dual performs better than a slower clocked quad.

the Q9300 looks nice... looks fast.. the numbers are uber.. the processor feels like a hot gal... is this a good choice for processor?

It all depends on what you are doing. We need the details. With multi-GPU, it sounds like you are building a gaming machine. As already stated, a large majority of games will run better on a higher clocked dual core, over a quad core. Also, weather or not you are overclocking comes in to play as well..

stevty hit the nail on the head. There is no one size fits all processor. For a gamer a higher clocked dual is the way to go. If you encode or heavily multi-task then a quad would be better. It just depends on the use for the chip.

I believe that the amd side has already kicked itself in the nuts.

If you go with a Q9300, which i chose, get some really fast ram. DDR3 1333 will run 1:2 and thats good but if i bump the fsb up to 400, i need atleast DDR 1600 to keep it at 1:2, which is the ideal ratio. Not totally sure on a DDR2 option, but if i went with DDR2, i'd definitely go with 1066. And btw, i am using a AMD/ATI 3870, so i am still supporting the AMD.

You mean not at a premium price. :T

Cuz my QX is a one size fits all. :D

Also to be honest, you wont see jack of a difference of a cpu @ 3.4 ghz vs 4.0 ghz unless your playing supreme commander or some other cpu intensive game.

Your gpu will most likely crap out b4 the cpu will.

Blah dont mind me, i prefer quads again. :T
