Netgear MR314 or Netgear MR814?

MR314 is a old design of netgear wireless router and then MR814 is newly designed router.

however the new MR814 listed as 2.4GHz, but old one does not say this...is 2.4ghz really matter??

I'm trying get one either mR314 or MR814, but I can't decide. Does anyone using it? Is MR814 better since it is fairly new to the market? or do they show same performance? if then I want to get MR314. I don't like the design of new MR814 personally...

Please help me to choose....

Both are 2.4ghz. Mr814 comes bundled with additional software, including privacy stuff that blocks ads. I think the Mr814 is aimed at the masses, which explains its cutesy look that I can't stand but some people think is cool. Mr314 has 5 year warranty, Mr814 is only 3 year. Go to Netgear's web pages and look at the descriptions and decide whether the extras with the Mr814 are stuff you care about. Also, there are a lot of other routers out there with interesting features, such as print servers or 22 mb speed.

I believe the 814 is basically the same thing but has a detachable antenna which you could possibly attach a bigger one I suppose... I use the 814 at hom because I got a good deal on it, with a netgear wireless card in my notebook I can go all around my house and back yard and still have a great connection. (router is 2nd story away from any kind of interference.)

The MR814 outer shell is made of ?Plastic?. The MR314 is ?Metal?.

According to the specs. the MR814 is newer and better but it just came to the market and no feedback yet.

Do a network community service, buy it, and tell us how it works!

The Mr314 has pretty good reviews at Amazon. Amazon has no reviews on the mr814 yet. Either can be had for $73 after rebate, maybe cheaper, which is pretty good, at least compared to what prices were like just a few months ago. Mr314 reviews are more mixed at practicallynetworked.com.
