ok i need to put a cheapo video card in a box that im building for some people i know and i have come across these two cards for about the same cash

Radeon 9600pro for 97
Geforce 6200.... one in Chaintech $102 one is eVGA $119

which one is better? this isnt going to be going on any hardcore gamers box but i dont wanna build them a box with ancient stuff in it.

I'd go with the 9600 Pro, at $97 that card is a very solid performer. You should be able to find a similarly performing PCI-E part in the X600 Pro for about the same cost.

I'd vote for the 9700pro over the 6600, but not by much. The 9700pro is roughly equivilant to the 9800pro in speed (~10% difference) and the 9800pro is faster than the 6600. But meh, 9700pro's are often hard to come by, and that vanilla 6600 deal on newegg looks mighty nice.

Get the 6200 hands down. Unlock the other 4 pipelines and OC that thing up to near 6600GT speeds. Plus you get the VPU, SM3 etc...

However if you dont want to do all that look at the 6600, the X700, and then look at last gen.
