Okay I am looking for a kickass gaming LCD, and these two are my options (Unless you have any other ideas).

The Dell 2001fp (It is a beautiful monitor, and because it says Dell on it doesn't make it bad)

or

The ViewSonic VP912b (Another beautiful monitor)

Now my other question is, if I get the 2001fp, I can plug my XBOX directly into it making a nice gaming setup along with my pc, if I get the VP912b I would buy a Neoya xbox/vga thing. Would my XBOX ghost on the lcds screen?

Well, I have a 2001FP and I play both my Gamecube and Xbox on it and its great. No ghosting and nice picture. Much better than running it in through a TV tuner card.

To dark:

Is the picture or better than a TV, and on the XBOX do you get like the higher resoultions like with the X2VGA?

Well, you can't get like 480p, and other HD resolutions through S-Video, you'd need to be using the Xbox HD pack and somehow input that into the VGA or DVI ports. If the VGA adapter you'd get has the HD ability then it'd work (and you probably wouldn't need to get the HD pack).

I bought a VGA adapter that allows for HD signal (only HD signal, so you won't be able to see the dashboard or watch movies on it). I haven't ever really compared image quality side by side (I'm gonna do that here in just a moment).

My Gamecube looks great through the S-Video (vibrant colors), and the Xbox looks better than on a normal TV, but the colors look kinda washed out to me. Its very possible though, that it looks this way because of the fact that I've been playing Halo on both PC and Xbox lately. The Xbox looks like the Gamma is set a little high, but you can't adjust it (I was able to make the PC version look the same by upping the Gamma).

I had been considering the Viewsonic Nextvision N6 before I got this monitor and after seeing how well it looks on it I'm glad that I didn't.

I'll be back to tell you if the HD makes it look much better.

Ok, just got done playing and comparing.

Before I didn't think that there was much of a difference between the HD pack and VGA adapter and S-Video, but there is a nocticeable difference between sharpness. Looks quite a bit nicer using the HD pack.

Lag won't be a problem, I play Project Gotham Racing 2, Ninja Gaiden, Halo, and some other games and lag is not a factor at all (on either connection). No ghosting or anything at all.

The S-Video is fairly blurry on this screen (due to the resolution differences), so if you can do better than S-Video in from the Xbox, do it.

One quick question, when you have the console plugged into the Svideo port or the RCA yellow. Do you press a button to switch between them, like is is possible to have a pc through DVI and a console through Svidio at the same time? would they conflict?

Cause it would be cool to have a guide on my PC while playing an xbox and just switch between them.

Yeah, You could have 4 things running into the monitor at once, you just hit a button and it switches between them (VGA, DVD-D, S-Video, and Composite).

Something you might want to also think about is sound. How will you output the sound of the Xbox?

Umm, my sound blaster audigy 2 has a input and an adapter from radio shack would do the trick.

Also my z560's have a special thing for hooking up a console.

Alright, great. I had run into this problem myself, after getting the monitor and everything, I was like no sound. Thought I'd just tell ya in case you happen to not have thought of it, but you've got that taken care of so its all good.

Why'd you have to go and make this thread? Now after tinkering I have the urge to get that N6...:D
