I've finally narrowed it down to two....

Sanyo 30" Widescreen HDTV - $649 @ Walmart
Pros: Integrated Tuner (although i will be using HD through my cable company)
Cons: Feels like a cheap build. Demo in store had what i believed to be "dead pixels"

or

Panasonic 30" Widescreen HDTV - $810 at CC
Pros: Superb PQ, Sturdy Build
Cons: $150 more than the Sanyo

Consumer Reports has issued a buying guide for the best electronics. The most reliable 27-inch TV you can buy is Sanyo, followed by Sharp. The least reliable are RCA and GE. Ad for the 30-36-inch televisions, Sanyo is the television that breaks the least. And once again, the most unreliable is RCA. One in every seven RCA televisions will break, according to Consumer Reports.

Wow, i'll check that out....

One thing i hear though about the Sanyo's over at AVS, is quite a few have major geometry & color problems right out of the box....

Consumer Reports is useless, I never trust them. When they rated 2 of the EXACT same washers except for the name on the machine (Both were made by one company) and one rated #1 and one was somewhere down at like #15.

I read over at AVS forums that the Toshiba 30" direct view is better than the Panny.

Actually, most of the threads im pullin about the Toshiba 30" seem to be complaints, rather than praises...

I know someone who bought the Toshiba and has the EXACT same problems. He's now trying to return it because it sucks that much.

Although Toshiba usually makes excellent quality TV's, I would avoid that particular product line.
