I am trying to decide between a Shuttle sff with the G31 versus G33 chipset.
The models are Shuttle SG33G5B at 309.00 and Shuttle SG31G2 at 249.00 .
Linkies:

I have no use for hdcp nor the Dolby Digital live that comes on the more expensive one.
I will only use a single sata hard drive and sata dvd burner.
I will be using Vista 32bit Business edition.
I will be using an Intel E6750 at 2.66 fsb 1333 with no overclocking.
I will be using the onboard video with Aero enabled. I do no gaming.

Is there any performance or reliability differences?
For my uses is there any reason to pay the extra 60.00?

Opinions welcomed.
Thanks.

Personally I would go with the Shuttle SG31G2 Intel Socket.

If you're not a big gamer then this is a perfect PC.

This is the one I have http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16856101038

Awesome little boxes. I am replacing a SB61G2 I built my sister over 3 years ago that had a P4 3.0.
I will refurb it and sell it.
And the Shuttle SG31G2 Intel Socket looks exactly like yours, just for the Intel cpu's.
I figure since the Core 2's run so cool it was my best bet for long term reliability, since she lives so far away. So thats the one I will get.
thanks

is getting good reviews, like the 68G2.

the folks at SFFtech.com are totally into these, they might have some
feedback. looks like Tweaktown has a review of the Shuttle SG33G5
with the Intel G33 chipset.

My sister just uses it for surfing and email so the extra fetures of the G33 are really not necessary.
I just want reliability, speed enough so it will run for 3 years, small size and really great appearance.
These Shuttles are really little jewels!

yep. when i got the Shuttle with the 3.06 P4,
it was to replace a 2.4 GHz Xeon system.

the Shuttle was about 1/4 the size, and a
little faster. i justified it on the basis of i was
going to be moving.

the problem is ... i can't bring myself to
throw away the old Xeon. or the old Pentium
Pro.

that was the SB51G, the Shuttle with the
3.06 P4.

Adam Traidman at SFFTech is really into them
to.

Have you checked the forums at www.sudhian.com ? They have a Shuttle-specific forum chock full o' owners.

For a non-gaming sister I'd probably be lazy and get her a laptop or a Dell slim tower though. Let them build and service it :)
