Hello I am in the market for an LCD monitor and these two seem to fit very nicely into my price range. But i am unsure which one i should get...i am leaning a bit towards the benQ but i have no idea which is better. Are they both TN panels? If not, which has the best panel and best quality?

the benQ is a new revision of another very similar monitor but with improved response time and contrast ratio. the old version had an 8 bit panel. do you think that the 8 bit has been slashed down to a 6 bit in order to lower the contrast ratio?

I am not buying them from newegg, i am getting these from tigerdirect.ca and that acer is not on the site. So which one is better? I've also noticed the picture of the DVI port on the benQ it looks a bit like this

Hey ss samy,

The Acer AL2051W is superior, but not sold in Canada...Pity...

Amongst your 2 choices, I would go with Viewsonic, as BenQ seems to be in in trouble:

Qisda?

What's in a name?

What of your warranty if the company disappears?

As for Tigerdirect.ca, prepare for a shock when you put the item in the cart and compute shipping and tax.

I suggest you compare total prices with NCIX.com and DirectCanada.com.

I'd go with Viewsonic too. They should be good quality and support shouldn't be bad. On the other hand, BenQ, albeit good, has some support issues I frequently hear about.

It ALL depends on the manufacturer of the flat panel screen itself...

All of these flat panel screens are generic!

Hrm... how can I explain this?

I run a Dell 1907FP. At last count, there were, like, at least 5 different manufacturers of the flat panel screen.

It's like the spark plugs in your car -- you can buy Champions, Duracrafts, NGKs, Bosch, whatever. They'll all work, but some work better than others, you know?

Outwardly, these monitors all look the same, but the hidden difference is the flat panel itself. These specs don't mean any more than the specs of the spark plugs in your car.

Another example would be flashlight batteries - C-cell, D-cell... they all have the same specs... but Duracells trump Ray-O-Vacs! Get it?!?!?

In my case, I lucked out and got a Samsung flat panel in my Dell 1907FP - the 'gilded' choice. The other panels aren't so great...

And, so it goes with LCD monitors!

Bottom line: It's a crap shoot! You feeling lucky, punk? Well, are you? Did I shoot 5 times or 6? LoL! :D
