The common view is that all GeForce 4 cards are created equal. That's in 3 D rendering right? I can get an MSI GeForce 4 ti4200 for about $50 CDN less than the LeadTek. Anyone have thought on these two cards. I do a alot of work with Photoshop and would like my 2D imaging to be crystal clear. Currently working with a GeForce 2 gts. Thanks,

From what I've seen, they are pretty much equal, it's mainly options and goodies that make them different. If you wanna go GF, you could try the Omega drivers to help with the 2D quality. Otherwise, if 2D is very important to you, I'd do some research on ATI or even Matrox cards...just my two cents...:)

They are mostly equal, but I hear the Leadtek's 2D is exceptional among the all the geforce4's...

;) Well back in the GF3 days MSI was one of the worst for IQ while Leadtek were on eof the best. From what I've heard and read though there really isn't anything in it for GF4TI cards, but if you think the Can$50 is worth it for peace of mind then cool. Of course MSI are reportedly one of the best GF4TI o/c'ers, so maybe that coupled with the cheaper price tag could swing you back in that direction. IMHO both are fine choices, I'd be more inclined to go with the MSI myself as the IQ on all GF4TI has been a very high standard. If IQ is hugely important and you work a lot in 1600x1200x32 @ 75HZ+ then it's worth considering losing some perf and plumping for a Rad8500-128MB card, still great perf but well known for excellent IQ. I take it Rad9700 is out of the question LOL!

:D To be honest GF2 are about as bad as IQ gets, so if that isn't unbearable then any GF4 will easily forfill your needs in all depts.

I have the Leadtek ti4200. The 2d is exceptional, on par with Radeon. I have mine oc'ed to 290/600.

I'd also like to add that my old radeon 32ddr has much better 2D over my new MSI Geforce4 Ti4600.

;) For the GF4 cards and esp the TI that certainly seems to be the case although there are exceptions. Almost all GF4 seem to have the same perf, o/c'ability, features (altho TVout vs VIVO), image quality etc. However there are a few 4200 cards known to cheap out on the RAM. The ones to avoid are AOpen 4200-128MB, EVGA 4200-64MB and it seems the standard Gainwards too. Other than this there is very little of any importance to speperate the cards ... excluding the '4300' cards that is (4200 using the longer 4400/4600 design, 3.3ns BGA and TI4400 price tag).

Thanks very much folks! AnAndAustin, your point about there being some differences at the very high resolutions is noted. But I don't ever go past 1600x1200, so I'll just go for the MSI I think.

The MSI has very good image quality, infact as already been posted by other members here all GF4s have, however in a big review roundup awhile back the Leadtek came top beating all other brands by a whisker,in the end you should be happy with either one.

That's saying a lot, my Leadtek Ti4400, tho excellent, isn't on par with my buddy's Radeon for 2D, but it kicks his butt in 3D! hehe :)

I found my old GF4 Ti4200 roundup thread(11 cards tested including image quality) anyway here`s the review of the 11 GF4 tI4200 cards .

All GeForce 4 Ti4200 cards produce a high quality image, but we nitpicked and made the table you see above.
The judgments are harsher than they should have been, so we recommend that you don?t take them for granted.

If we would have to pick a card that has the best 2D image, it would be the Leadtek models, followed by Abit Siluro and Prolink. A bit less sharp, but still great were ASUS, Gainward and Microstar, who we would like to commend as they have been known earlier for series that produced a blurry image.
