Which of these two cards are better for gaming?

you're probably gonna get half a dozen reply saying you shouldn't get these two and spend a tad bit more for a 6800gs or an x800xl. but if you MUST choose, then the GTO is a better card.

The X1600XT has a higher core clock, but it is oem.

The X1600 XT fairly consistently performs much worse than the 6800 GT and a little better than the 6600 GT.

Basically X800XL for $185 I'd say if you are not into unlocking and not willing to spend $200 for GTO2, this is worth the extra $25.

yea i'm really looking at these two right now!

x800gto2 with VIVO 211 shipped

EVGA 6800GS 196 Shippped 2nd day

tried to go cheap and got an msi 6600gt 88 shipped on flea-bay that came with hsf broken
off and 3d-core totally bonked - rma pending

I'm really impressed with EVGA and would be happy with a 66gt or 68gs from them

the ATi offers VIVO and SPEED but..
I mainly play AOE3 so NVIDIA is better with ver.3 shaders (right?)
plus a nvidia gpu to mate with a NF4 chipset seems right in this situation

For AOE3, definately go Nvidia, ie. 6800GS.
