Boston Acoustics BA4800, Altec Lansing ATP5, or Cambridge SoundWorks FPS2000? From what I've been hearing, it appears as if the order I listed the three speakers, is the order of which one is the best. I will be using them mostly for music, some game playing, and a little movie watching with a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound card. The BA4800's and the ATP5's cost about the same (since Best Buy stopped selling the BA4800's :() at ~$125 and the FPS2000's are cheaper at ~$80. And please don't mention Klipsch because I know they are awesome, but I don't feel the need to dish out over $300 on computer speakers... Thx.

I would say you have them in the right order.
Altec ACS56 and CSW FPS2000 are pretty close, and I think the ATP5s are better than the ACS56 (though I've never done a side by side comparison).

I think the BA4800 are easily the best speakers you can get short of $450. If not more.

Edit: oops...sorry that's in canadian dollars. $450 = ~$300US

Ok, the cheapest I can find the BA4800's is for $120 and the ATP5's for $100. So the BA4800's are definitely worth the extra money?

Do you know why not many places sell these speakers? If they're so good, shouldn't there be a high demand for them? Just curious...

I also wish Best Buy still had their deal for the BA4800's for $100 and free shipping cuz it's gonna cost me $120 plus $19 for shipping. :(

I hear you, I got burned by Best Buy too. I was ready to order the BA4800's, credit card in hand when their web site went down for a day and a half. By time it comes back up they were no longer selling the BA4800's. I have no idea why they're are so hard to find but they're great speakers (ordered mine from amazon)!

MrMilney,
The same exact thing happened to me (with Best Buy)! How much did they cost w/ shipping at Amazon?

$129.99 + 17.61 = $147.60

Sounds like you found a better site but I figured that I was already planning on spending around $150 for my new speakers so it didn't hurt my feelings too badly. I'm still a little pissed at Best BUy though. ;)

You'd think that wouldn't you? I'm no sure why but Boston doesn't seem to be very popular in the multimedia aftermarket, which is werid because they are definately the best speakers you can get for $150.
Gateway uses some of boston's lower end sets for their rigs.
I dunno Boston's just aren't that common, I would venture it has something to do with marketting and brand recognition in favour of Altec and Creative.

Darn...but hey look at me, up in Canada these speakers are damn hard to find, and they are $300 (~$200US) everywhere!
I think it's actually cheaper for me to import them through amazon.com than to buy them local :disgust:
