2002 Durango 4.7 engine. Lower Ball Joint.

I went for an alignment and was told they couldn't do it because the lower ball joints were way loose and it just wouldn't be accurate.

When I searched for this on Autozone I found 2 parts called the same thing but obviously very different.

I don't know if these links will work or not but anyway...

Duralast / Ball Joint - Lower ($30)

Dorman / Ball Joint - Lower ($300+)

They look totally different but I'm assuming the cheap one is the standard ball joint right?

the first part looks like the little cylinder at the top of the second part (bottom A-arm? i think) - do you need the whole bottom assembly or just the joint?

Since they quoted me around $700 with labor, I'm assuming I just need the joint. They, of course, wanted $120 or so per joint and $320 to install both.

Trying to find someone to do it for cash since $80/hr is just retarded.

From trolling thru rock auto. There seems to be different parts depending on 4wd or not.

The part you want is just the ball joint, which is the first part you posted. Bear in mind these look to be pressed BJ,s so whomever does it needs one. These can usually be rented though.

That second part is the entire lower control arm. Not needed.
