Hi! Im about to buy a new CD Writer, and I will like to hear some opinions first.

Which of these CDWriters would you choose? An Acer or a Teac, both 24x10x40?

Any opinion would help. Thanks in advance

I got a lite on 32X for $95 at newegg and today I got 50 32x 80min CDRs for 9.50 at fry's

To answer your question I'd get the teac.

I agree with the Lite-On comment. It seems to me that the technology is strong enough that you can price shop with more confidence than brand shop.

I have an Acer 12X writer on my old dell. To tell you the truth, I've already burned hundreds of CDs on it, and I never got a coaster. I'm not sure if Acers are still good though. The old one I have is definately top-notch. So, out of Teac and Acer, I would chose Acer. However, if i had more variety to choose from, I would recommend you to get the Lite-On because it's cheap and so far, I have had no problems with 24x writer on my new computer (ie no coasters, good speed). Whatever you do, don't get a Sony branded CDRW, I know for sure that it sucks. My roomate gets coasters on that all the time.

When I was looking for a burner, before Christmas, I searched many sites that review hardware in general and CD burners in special. I ended up with a LiteOn. However, Teac was highly recommended, and I understand they are very popular in Europe, where they prefer drives thet are solid and reliable, rather than fast and flimsy. They just weren't available in my area...
