Whichever one you enjoy the most.

People put too much weight on what is going to pay well, what has the most (short term) potential in the current job market, etc. Who gives a flying fuck - if it's something that you ENJOY doing, you will actually ENJOY your life regardless of your income.

The only time my opinion of that changes is when the job involves harming yourself or others.

Usually people who say this are the poor people. "Oh, well at least I enjoy my job. You make more money than me, so that means you don't enjoy your job as much as I do." That type of mentality.

I work with 2 Edward R. Murrow award winners. They are now both in IT. There is no money to be had in journalism.

Education? If you are a tenured professor, then maybe. Principals also make decent money.

Health care.....it's one sector that never seems to be affected by any sort of economic downturns, just grows and grows.

Best for what?

Money? IT or perhaps health care. (depending on the type of degree and the job)

Best for job security? Health care.

Best for YOU? Only you can decide that.

Jobs in journalism are low paid and scarce.

Jobs in education are low paid.

Jobs in information technology are of average pay and reasonably available.

Health care admininstration.....master's degree. Almost guaranteed a job on graduation and if you're even half-assed at it, you'll never be without a job.

Echo what's being said about Journalism - would've loved to have gone into it myself but the pay is low for the amount of work you do.

Certainly not journalism. No jobs for noobs in that field at all. Frustrating as hell since that's what my diploma is in.

Depending on the region, education. In Ontario, senior teachers can make up to $80,000-$90,000 plus benefits, get what's basically equal to three months vacation, and a pension that can't be beat. Basically full pay for life once you retire. I think starting pay is $40,000 plus benefits.

That's the second stupidest post in this thread, following the OP.

No one can say what is the "best" career field; much less determine which of those three is the "best" for the OP. What does "best" even mean?

What you expect me to actually work in a hospital or something? Unless you're an actual doctor, I can't see that type of job making that much money.

The term "health care" as applied to jobs would entail doctors, nurses, radiological techs, phlebotomists, etc. Even the IT department in a hospital can be loosely called "health care," even though they don't work directly with patients.

As for "making that much money," I guess it depends on your standards...but nurses around here easily make $50/hr with more OT than they often want...radiological techs (x-ray, MRI, etc.) make pretty decent money...$60k to about $85K locally.

Insurance companies are insurance companies, "irregardless" of their field.
