Which of these cards is best?

1

2

3

4

I'm thinking #4 because it seems the most powerful? I read it doesn't have pixel shader 3.0, is that important? It looks like the best bang for the buck. Anything else I should be taking into consideration?

4 has the best performance but lacks alot of features. Buying that card NOW isnt such a good idea as transition to S.M 3.0 features is fully underway. You will be missing out enhanced IQ/HDR/etc.

I would get 3 as its retail AND you get the warranty unlike 1 and 2 which is a) refrubed and b) OEM.

However, those cards dont perform as you would expect

I would get this however.

5th option

You made me click all of them? 😉

The 7600GT will beat all of them except the 4th, which it should either tie with or do slightly better.

What about a used 7800GT? Those can't be that expensive, espically with the 7900's out.

X850Xt for t3h win. OC's like crazy to stock 7800GT speeds. Lack of SM3 not important, at least not rite now cause not many games use it and when they dour card wont be good enough anyway to run them at good settings. Or look at 7600GT for quietness and low power use with its 90 nm.

Since overclocked X850XT will be very close to 7800GT's performance, I highly doubt 7600GT will match it with 12 pipes when 7800GT has 20 and 256bit memory. It also costs $20 less. For $150 it's a good card and will last you 8 months until Vista is around for sure. By then DX10 cards will be around and the argument about SM3.0 support will be lame.

7600GT==X850XT when both are at stock speeds. The 7600GT has very high stock core clocks and memory clocks, so that makes up for its 128 bit memory interface. When OC'd the 7600GT has little OCing headroom so the X850Xt is better in that aspect

thanks, I'll proobably go with the x850xt. I'm hoping it will couple nicely with the new viewsonic 20" widescreen I'm getting. the newegg $10 promo code I have makes it $144 after rebate, which makes it even better

cheapest I've seen is around $230ish. normal range is around $250. will it be worth the extra $100?

That's a pretty big jump when it seems the best bang for the buck is the x850xt

Not worth the extra $. Go with rhe x850xt.

ok, next question. I can get OEM for $5 more, and no rebates. should I do it?

Or is it worth it to get the shiny box and wait for the $15 rebate and save $5?

For only $5 difference, might as well get the retail. And in terms of performance, the x850xt would blow the x1600's out the water, so the choice is pretty obvious.
