My 19" CRT is dying. I have a somewhat tight budget for a 22" LCD monitor to replace it. It will be mainly used for gaming (combat flight sims & football) and perhaps a movie or two. I have a radeon 1950Pro that I won't be able to upgrade for some time.

Which of these monitors within my budget do you think is best?

Acer X223WBD 5ms 1680x1050:

Sceptre X22HG-Naga 2ms 1680x1050:

Samsung SyncMaster 2243SWX 5ms 1920x1080:

Asus VW224u 2ms 1680x1050:

This will be my first LCD. I am leaning towards the Asus one, but I am hearing good things also about the Acer one.
Thanks for any help.

Take a look at the 1920x1080 monitors. In some cases they actually appear cheaper than the 1680x1050 these days. Maybe it has to do with standardization to 16:9 lowering costs?

I think it might be safer to stick with lower 1680x1050 res panels for now if you are not gonig to upgrade your video card for awhile.

I have the Asus VW246H (24" 1920X1080) and personally think its a very good TN LCD,as to your list I would probably go with the Acer or Asus.

take a look at the benQ E2200HD, i got one a few weeks ago and its great for the price, awesome for gaming as it has a really low response time. Its in your budget i got mine onsale for $209 at NCIX.

This shouldn't having any effect on the resolution you are shopping for.....as long as you can play games in a lower resolution window (ie, a native pixel size)

Plus the extra resolution can be nice for desktop uses. (surfing internet, spreadsheets-which I don't use myself, viewing documents side by side)

I wouldn't base my decision on a new monitor on what graphics card I have either. I did that with my laptop and I seriously regret doing that. For gaming, it's ok, but, for normal use, the resolution 1280x800 is too small.
