Whatever you do don't get the RAZR, because is a piece of crap with locked bootloader and a phone infested with verizon crapware. People will get fed up and they will be dumping these for $300 on ebay a month or two from today like we have seen with the bionic, droid 4 and a long line of moto phones with locked bootloader.

That leaves you with 2 choices, i would say is personal. No one can help you with that because each phone will have its strengths and weakness and this thread will turn into another android vs iphone train wreck.

i spent a lot of time thinking about getting the nexus, but honestly every other phone will get ICS eventaully so i can't say that is such a huge advantage. the nexus is going to be a pretty huge phone, but it has a lot of drawbacks too (cheap plastic build, pentile screen, no sd slot, no usb mass storage, hell i dont even like the headphone jack on the bottom).

i ended up picking up a rezound on ebay for cheap. out of those 3, i suppose the iphone probably has the least drawbacks but its all up to personal preference.

i played with the razr in the store, and its thin, but really awkward to hold. i'd honestly rather have a bionic for actually using than the razr...

It depends entirely on the person I'm making the recommendation too. iOS would work better for some people, while Android would be better for others.

Generally, I would probably recommend the Nexus the most.

Which carrier? What do you want to do with it? Do you have any previous experience with any of them? Own a Mac already? Gone all Google? What about Microsoft?

I didn't see a Windows Phone up there 😉 Second gen Windows Phone 7 would be my vote...

I wouldn't get or recommend the Razr to anyone. If it was for me, or another that doesn't mind messing around with a phone, I would probably get the Nexus. My work phone is a 4s - it's a nice piece of hardware, but it does have some drawbacks and I prefer Android.

I'm leaning towards the rezound; undecided if I want to wait for the nexus. Historically samsung has weak antennae so that would be a bummer for me. Also the european model is said to be a bit 'soft' while the razr and rezound are nice and loud.

What will you be using it for?
Do you like to modify your phone?
Do you need/prefer a bigger screen?

Primarily just using the internet and calling people
I would love to modify it and create my own applications
I definitely prefer a bigger screen

According to http://www.theverge.com/2011/11/25/2585820/motorola-droid-razr-source-code-released the RAZR's source code has been released, along with a tool that helps you unlock the bootloader.

Does the Nexus have 4G?

Also, for the people saying rezound, please elaborate why you think that is the best choice.

Yes, the Nexus is LTE (4G)

I've been using a Rezound for about a week. It has some nice features -

The screen is freaking beautiful, holding it next to my ip4s it looks just as good, if not better in some regards - considering it's about 2x as much real-estate that's quite an accomplishment.

It is not as large as you would image, it feels good in the hand - really solid.

It has removable storage, the Nexus does not

It has removable battery, the Razr does not.

OTOH, it does not have the battery life of my 4s nor is it as smooth, but that's what you give up for a really nice screen and ultra fast internets....

I'm returning mine and waiting for the Nexus, I want the unlocked ICS goodness.

Anything else? Apps? Gaming? Camera? Battery Life?

Because based on the above, all you have to do is pick an Android phone with the biggest screen and you hit all your priorities.

Nexus, though lack of SD sucks.

I'm assuming this is all Verizon, so i4S is out simply because of lack of LTE. No LTE on Verizon = no sale.

I want a phone with a decent battery life...at least 1 day before recharging.
I want a nice selection of games that have decent graphics and gameplay.
I want the ability to create my own apps without hassle, and access to a good selection of existing apps.

I have a question. So...it seems like people are choosing the Nexus primarily because of its operating system, ice cream sandwich. Why not just buy a RAZR and install ice cream sandwich onto that? I like the durability of the RAZR. The Nexus seems like it might be somewhat flimsy.

The Nexus also has a 1280x720 Super Amoled display which is quite possibly the best display available in a mobile device.

The Nexus won't have MotoBlur.
The Nexus won't have an encrypted bootloader.
The Nexus will be completely supported by Google for 2 years.

well, Nexus will have shitty battery life (LTE)

and is far outclassed by the GPU in the Galaxy S2. Once SGS2 has ICS available, expect it to outclass Nexus in just about any performance category.

Nexus still has larger screen, higher resolution, and what seems to be the better camera, also NFC (only the ATT SGS2 has NFC potential).

So, with ICS on both devices, SGS2 will likely outclass the Nexus in battery life and gaming.

But don't listen to me, I'd probably still opt for the Nexus if I were choosing today
