I'd have to go with visiontek, they have good support and lifetime warranty, but the Gainward are the best when its out, also the most expensive.

i would think gainward would be best hands down but it would also be most expensive. of the mid range 4600s (if there is such a thing :p) it would be Leadtek due to its cooler HS :p(Visiontek has prolly better software package). And the cheapest is PNY i think.

I just got my Gainward Geforce4 Ti-4600 yesterday from www.monarchcomputer.com and it is very roxxor. It might be a little more than the other manufactures, but it's bundle also has a lot more things.

They are all pretty much the same, granted some have tricked out features, any card with the lable Ti4600 is bound to be more than decent.

4600 Shootout

"If nothing else, remember this if you read this shootout. Every GeForce4 Ti4600 card performs exactly the same. Sure, there are some small variances here and there, but when you look at the numbers as a whole, we generally see a 1-2% variation of benchmark scores between the different cards. When shopping for a GeForce4 card, don't go with a name brand just because you hear they're faster, go with the card that's right for your budget and has the features that you're looking for."

I bought the PNY 4600 because I don't need all of the extra bells and whistles that the other overpriced cards have.

Actually at refrence clock the cards perform so closely it's not worth bothering with much in the way of choices. Overclocking may be good on a brand for someone but you might not be able to get 10Mhz out of it. It depends on your luck.

If I was going to buy a GF4 Ti4600(I`m not, going to wait for their new model :)) I would go with Leadtek or Gainward,or Elsa if you can find their GF4 Ti 4600 cards.

Mem,

Have you seen Elsa GeForce 4 cards? I was under the impression that:

1. Elsa had gone under
2. Elsa used cards supplied by Visiontek

Please tell me any more about these issues.

Also, I am looking for a card to drive a 21" monitor at 1600x1200 and noted one comparison that still found flaws in the GeForce 4 visual quality:

http://gotapex.com/reviews.php?rev=gf4-comp/index.html

"Truth be told, the flaws that we found with some of these cards are, in fact, inherent with the GeForce4 Ti4600 chipset. The most notable flaw has got to be the unimpressive 2D image quality at higher resolutions. What is it going to take to get NVIDIA to take a proactive position against this problem."

Any advice as to which card? Or should I get the Radeon 8500 (for Medal of Honor, IL 2, etc)

Thanks

Bink, I read some Elsa GF4 Ti4600 made it to the stores (only a few)before they went down so to speak, good luck in trying to find one,(best chance is probably in Germany ),as for 2D quality well the Gainward,Leadtek,Visiontek are probably the best there is and those cards are easy to find.

It`s funny some sites say the 2D quality is excellent and others say it`s only fair,I would try and see the card in use if possible or buy one from a store that will allow you to return it if you`re not happy with the 2D quality, your only other option is the ATI Radeon 8500 at the moment.

2D quality is really only something you can decide.
