Which OCZ PC2-6400 is better?

Hi there,

I'm trying to choose between the following two types of OCZ memory for my new build. The build is going to be an E6600 in an Asus P5B Deluxe and I'll be trying for 3.2-3.6GHz with an Ultra 120 heatsink.

OCZ 2GB PC2-6400 EL Platinum XTC Edition Rev. 2 Dual Channel DDR2 Kit (2 x 1GB)
$264.95CDN, MIR $25, after rebate $239.95CDN

OCZ 2GB PC2-6400 CL4 FlexXLC Edition Dual Channel DDR2 Kit (2 x 1GB)
$299.95CDN, MIR $40, after rebate $259.95CDN

The price difference is only $20, but I can't figure out if the FlexXLC has different memory IC's or just the heatsink.

Both are 4-4-4-15 and warranty to 2.2V.

Thanks!

I've been told they both use PROMOS ic's, but have no way to verify.

I have the FlexXLC and like them so far. I've had them up to just over DDR900 running 1:1, and just over DDR1000 running the 4:5 divider. I haven't been able to get to DDR1000 1:1 even with a lower multi on the CPU. Not quite sure what the deal is there:confused: it may be my particular board just won't do 500fsb, but I bought this board(P5B-E rev 1.02g) specifically because of the reported high FSB and replaced the stock NB heat sink with an HR-05.

Hmm interesting. What timings are you using at 900/1000? I might spring the extra $20, I figure the heatsinks have to help out somewhat?
