Just starting to consider a new notebook for my University years and have basically narrowed it down to two choices.

The Toshiba Tecra S1 103JL or the Dell Inspiron 600m.The Toshiba would cost around $2899.00 whereas the Dell would cost almost the same. The Tecra is slighty heavier (6.9 vs 5.9pounds) but comes with a 15" screen instead. So should I got with the Dell? Which has better build quality and will that 1 pound make much of a difference? With Dell I do have to worry about shipping whereas the Tecra I can pick up locally. Thx for any help, and if you guys have any experience with either, LMK what you think. Thx!
 
is that canadian $$'s? cause that seems like alot to pay for those laptops. You can get a nicely configured 600m for a little over $1000.
 
The build of 600m seems to be a bit dodgy from what ppl have to say. I would say, for the same price, definitely go for Tecra S1. I'm planning on getting a centrino soon....just undecided over Tecra S1 vs Acer 800....
