I'm trying to decide between the Bose Quiet Comfort II and Sony MDR-NC11. These headphones will be used by a drummer. Can anyone that has had any experiences with these headphones suggest anything? Also, if you guys know of a better one, please let me know. Thank you very much.

Shure makes the E2 which fits in your ear canal. It's only about $80. It's used as in-ear monitors for mmusicians, so it'll work fine for a drummer. Being one myself and owning the E2 as well.

Yeah for live music I would use passive isolation. active really only helps for steady sounds like cars and planes. you could use the shures and then put drummer's earmuff-style protectors over on top of them if you wanted to really block out sound.

I've got to say, once you put them in you won't need anything else to block out the noise. With them in and no music going, I hear next to nothing. They go into your canal and create a suction.

I really recommend it. I do want to try out the professional ones ($1000+). I've done a lot of work with a friend of mine that ownes a management company for national Christian artists (used to be DC Talk's tour manager). The in-ear monitors they have are custom molded to their ear. Couldn't imagine how much their setup cost.
