I will FINALLY be gettin my DSL installed in the next couple weeks.
(Speedpath from Ameritech/SBC)
Right now I got 3 machines. My current sweeheart is..............

SC760a case
P3BF6 mobo
PIII 600e CBo @ 800mhz
128 megs Muskin High Perf. rev2 @ 2-2-2
SBLive X_Gamer
Annihilator 2
Kenwood 72x
Promise Ultra/100 card
IBM 75GXP 15 gig
floppy

I also have an ata machine I built in an Enlight tower on an asus
mobo thats a P166mmx @203 mhz wit all de old goodies.

And I got an HP Vectra VLi8 PIII 450 w/ 6 gig drive ATA 33, 128 meg
ram, 40x cd-rom, floppy etc. (dont laugh, me an 2 friends bought em
from a bus. going under for 400 bucks each about 18 mos ago, also
discovered cpu will do 600 no sweat )

I have three 3Com 3C905B-TX nics that I yanked outta the Vectras
when I reconfigged em.

I am gonna rebuild the Vectra 450 with new case and mobo as a 600
ang give the 166 to my MA for surfing.
I will (after Ameritech dude is gone) network the two
remaining piggies, with I dont know which DSL router/switch yet.
pobably Netgear or Linksys.

Should I use the 3Com nics or am I gonna have compatability probs ?
If I do should I set it up now and load the drivers and stuff ?
Or should I wait n see what kinda gear A-Tech brings ?

You won't have any compatibility problems using the 3Com NIC's with either the LinkSys or NetGear. Are you sure those devices are Switches, or Hubs, I am not familiar with NetGear or LinkSys making switches, but I do know they have HUBS. In Which case I would recommend setting 2 NICS into one machine and setting up a PROXY Server or BMGR server. Then using the Hub to Share internet information to the other Computers.

Linksys makes the BEFSR41 CABLE/DSL router which has a built in
4 port 10/100 switch. I think ( at least I read ) that netgear
is better equipment but doesn't have a combo device like Linksys,
so I'd have to buy a Netgear router and a Netgear switch seperately.
I don't know (yet) if using the two seperate pieces means I'd need
two nics in one box. But hopefully somebody will tell me how to fly
this thing. (hint hint)
