I have basically narrowed it down to the chaintech VNF4/Ultra or the DFI Lanparty UT-D. Now, before the Nvidia Ultra core revision to make the pencil mod on the DFI board impossible, I was completly set on the DFI, since I MIGHT run sli a couple months down the road. The limiting factor for me is going to be the psu I am going to be using; intially I plan on using a stock psu that comes with a Raidmax case (the reason for getting the case is beacuse I can stick 8 fans in their if I need to....., I understand that more isn't better in all situations, but it gives me more options). If it seems unstable at stock, I will just buy a Fortron 530 watt psu. I have decided to avoid any boards by MSI; my friends S754 system was based on the MSI K8N Neo Platinum and it was a piece of junk-he went to a chaintech a couple days ago and his computer is literally twice as fast, and this is going from the second best board to the third. I am planning for some heavy overclocking, will be trying to get a 3000+ to 2.7 ghz+ on air (I did it on a build I did for a friend on an Epox board and a Zalman 7000 AlCu). So, understanding that the DFI is the best overclocking board their is, but is very picky, I am also considering the Chaintech. I want a board that a Zalman 7700 will fit on, but if not I can go to the 7000+ or the XP-90. Any suggestions on a good, native 24 pin psu for around $80? The Fortron is good but isn't native 24 pin. I am either going with some value ram or some Patriot sticks, intially one 512 stick (I will go with two latter or intially if I get value ram).
I am trying to budget $300 for the cpu+heatsink+mobo combo. This is easier to do with the chaintech b/c of its lower cost, but If all the little quirks with the DFI get worked out, I will probably spring for it. What would you get??
