which newer motherboards have the PCI-E 2.0 standard?

i just bought this http://www.gigabyte-usa.com/Pr...ec.aspx?ProductID=2583 and am going to build a C2D system with it, is it 2.0?

PCI-E 2.0 is backwards compatible with PCI-E 1.1, their have been some issues report with PCI-E 1.0a but I can't verify them.

For Intel, only motherboards that use the X38 and X48(not released yet) chipset.

Note - the mobo you listed uses 1.1 and honestly, there is no need to pay $250+ for a mobo that has 2.0

I believe you can in general tell by the chipset. X38 supports PCIe-2.0, and it looks like the NVidia 780 series will support it through a separate chip. I'm pretty sure P35 (your board) is does not provide (but does support through backwards compatibility) PCIe-2.0.

If you are seeking PCIe-2.0 to extend future compatibility, bear in mind that a lot of the folks that jumped on PCIe-1.0 when it first came out for that reason are now having issues with the transition to 2.0, but it appears those relate to the BIOS's not recognizing the PCIe-2 device, not a physical incompatibility.
