Between the two MBs, I like the Evga board better. It has a better power handling section, and a better selection of ports.

Not diss-ing your response on this. The price on that EVGA board is [Tony-the-Tiger] "Gu-u-u-rrr-eat!!"

BUT. He should probably look at any lab reviews he can find on the web, just to assess any shortcomings.

He shouldn't perhaps worry about such shortcomings with the processor he wants to drop in there. Apparently -- no intention to overclock.

About the NewEgg customer reviews. There are "more popular" boards, as measured by total frequency (62 reviews). I've seen good -- even great boards get a 50% 5* rating, but it's worth assessing the lower ratings to see if the customers knew what they were DIY-ing to do, and what sort of problems knowledgeable people noted in "Cons."

Maybe it's because Z68 is almost 1.5 years old now. If he's going to get a Sandy Bridge (and he might as well wait for Haswell if even interested in Ivy Bridge) -- it might be a very good deal. Supposedly a $90 saving.

Just check the EVGA forums, cus reviews and lab reviews to understand what you're getting into, or what you're getting for the money.

As for the AsRock, price regardless -- a P67 is a bit old, even for a last gen, "locked multiplier" CPU.
