hi,

I wish to buy my first NAS, only to backup & synch data with my workstation (Win x64) on a local network linked by ethernet (no wireless).
I have 2 3.5 HD of same capacity (6TB) fro mthe same brand (WD) but different model, but i guess it is not a problem as they both 3.5 sata the same way. i jsut hope they will work in RAID1 (i don't need raid0).

My primary need is the software, i hope (i wish) the NAS offer a software package to install on my workstation (win x64) which can ONLY do backup & synch when my workstation is IDLE (when my mouse is not moving because i'm not at home).

Exemple of case of use :
i go out for 2 hours, the software installed on my workstation is detecting i'm not here, so i start to backup & synch the folders from my local workstation to the NAS.
Next day, i go out again, and the software continue the backup & synch where it began the previous day....

Which NAS does have this 2 features i need ?

Any NAS will be fine. If you are running Windows, you can use the Task Scheduler to trigger a backup job "on idle."

The window task Scheduler can not remind which folder was not finish to backup/synch, it will always restart from the begenning each time i'll to idle... that the problem i need to solve.

You can do a differential backup with a robocopy command. That'll more or less do what you want.

Just modify the source/destination and have the task scheduler run that command instead?

That said, there's definitely cheap or free software like EaseUS that will do it using a friendlier interface.
