Which Multi-tool should I buy?

I've got $150 in Bass Pro Shop GC, and I am getting a Leatherman Squirt P4 to use as a pocket knife / tool.

I'm thinking of getting either the Leatherman Charge XTi or the Gerber MP800 Legend for a full-sized multi-tool.

Anyone ever use either of these and have any opinions on them? I'm currently leaning towards the Gerber, because I would have enough left over to get some ammo for my 9mm or a new hunting knife (since I broke my current one). If I get the Leatherman, I've pretty much used up my GC's after taxes or shipping (if I don't drive down to the store).

SOG now makes darn nice multitools.

Does Bass Pro sell SOG in their stores? There is no mention of that brand on their website.

How about you send me the $150 in GCs and I send you my Leatherman Micra and my original Gerber Multi-Plier? 😉 Seriously, while I haven't used either of the particular models that you are considering, I have found that they are both high-quality. However, I don't know that I see $30 worth of difference between the two in terms of the implements I would actually use, so I would go with the Gerber.

I haven't used either you are looking at (had the second generation Letherman, lost it, and am looking at getting a Gerber 650), but my experience has been this:
Gerbers can be found cheaper, with less tools, and are more comfy than, Leatherman tools.
Leatherman tools give you everything, in a very tight package, but don't have anything cheap.

AFAIK, both are of equally high quality.

I have a Leatherman Wave that is pretty cool. I can recommend that as a very useful tool. I'm sure the Charge would be excellent too.

Another vote for the Leatherman Wave ... brilliant little tool. I take it absolutely everywhere with me and it has fixed computers, Volkswagen vans, a tricycle and ski bindings!

I have a few, let me check. Squirt S4, PST II, and Super Tool 200. I use PST II the most. Good stuff.

i have the leatherman Wave and i love it.

i don't think you can go wrong with either knife, so if the gerber leaves you something left over, go for that.
