I have recently brought a MSI 5900XT anyway I am having troubles with the MSI nvidia drivers. I read somewhere that u get better performance using the MSI Nvidia drivers, so i used driver version 53.03 that came with the card i found on some games the text went all funny and the picture qaulity was really bad. So i then downloaded the 56.63 MSI drivers from there site, my text problem has been fixed and the image qaulity has improved heaps. I get a score of 4600 in 3DMARK03 which was a bit higher than the other drivers but I dropped a whopping 1000 points in 3dmark01. Does anyone else with the same card have troubles? is there a better driver to use?

Thanks to anyone who helps me out here.

I owned several MSI GeForce 3 and 4 cards, and I always installed the latest WHQL drivers from Nvidia's website.

I have only ever owned nvidia cards and have always used the drivers off nvidia's site, but the MSI ones perform alot better so i was just wondering which one would be best.

56.72 WHQL.
You should be getting about 4800 in '03, not 4600.
AN35N-Ultra, drivers from the CD + windows update.
1800+
512MB PC3200 (2-3-3-6)
Leadtek FX 5900XT (390/700), using 56.72 from NVidia.
'03: ~4,800
'01: ~12,000

hhmmm my pc is really under performing, must be a crap MB, and my ram aint as fast as yours Cerb.
oh well who cares im getting a new system tomorrow (i hope) then i'll post my benchmarks on here. but yeah my system seems to be a bit slack especially that I cant break the 10,000 mark in 3dmark01. any suggestions on how to make my performance better without over clocking?

You should be scoring around 14-15000 with that setup in 01. use the beta 61.40's. Also your CPU is really holding you back. I would spring for a new processor or OC this one.

Clean install of the OS, maybe?
Gamingphreek: single channel DDR, 1800+...no, he shouldn't be hitting 14k. 12k (what I get) is about right, though. 14k with overclocking, absolutely.

I hadn't thought about it, but yeah, it could be the mobo, as the NForce2 does give a bit of a boost. Not much, but the difference between 4600 and 4800 in 3Dmark03 isn't much, either (A7V8X is KT600, right?).

I have the same video card as you and I usually use the drivers from the nvidia website. Ofcourse you could also try the 61.40 beta drivers which I am currently using. With my 5900xt running at stock speed ie 390/700 with a xp3200 cpu I get:-

3dmark 2001 = 15488
3dmark 2003 = 5221

I could get a higher score by running my nf2 dual channel instead of single channel or with faster memory settings but I don't see the point stressing my puter just to get a higher 3dmark score!

You can get the 61.40 (also the new 61.45) drivers from Guru3D! :)
