Which MP3 player shall I choose?

Hello there!

I would like to buy an MP3 player and don't know witch one I should choose. I think I will go for an iPod nano and buy some nice earphones. But what do you recommend? Which is the best MP3 player out there?

I don't care much for disk storage, just high quality sound and a small device, so I can take it to the gym and other places.

COWON's iAudio G3 2GB. I did considerable research before buying and I kept coming back to this one. The sound is excellent, it is small, and has tremendous battery life ~ 15 -20 hours on an AA! It won't skip at all because it is a flash drive and with it's small size is ideal for workouts. Though it is an older model COWON just released firmware the last week of January 2007 -- talk about customer support which is also very good. I got one for my daughter and I should have gotten one for myself.

I also have a Creative MuVo V100 and this is another 2GB flash drive and the sound suprises me with its quality. I like it and it is small as well. If you laid both models on a credit card the credit card is bigger in length and width.

I suggest going to the excellent online sight Anythingbutipod.com for they have a forum for almost any MP3 player ever made -- except iPods.

If you want good sound quality, get an iriver clix. The iriver clix has a better sound than all of the options listed in this thread (excluding the iaudio which is just as good but I would get the iriver because of a bigger LCD for videos, better battery life, and it supports flash). If you want in-ear monitors, get the JVC FX33, if you'd like open headphones, get Koss KSC75. These two are notably the best options for cheap yet good sound.

Try looking at headfi.org for the best opinions on quality devices.
