You've had two HD-based players die on you, from an otherwise reliable brand name. Methinks the problem lies between keyboard and chair. You might really want to go with a Flash-based player this time.

doh. we both meant the iAudio M3, which is indeed extremely sexy. thinner/lighter than an ipod, and longer battery life too.

get another creative again. There are alot of people out there that dont have problems with them. You really think that there is mp3 player thats perfect? I read more ipod threads about them breaking than creative. Iriver is supposed to be good too.

I have a 20Gb iPod (not bought by my parents) and personally its always been good, only downside is that the battery runs down when your not using it but what do you expect from a li battery. That said I find the interface is great and although it forces you to use iTunes I have never looked back since switching from winamp.

The G3 stops at 2GB, and 1GB for Europe/Americas. For 40GB, I think you mean the M3(L).
I think the G3 looks great, though, and removes LI batteries from the equation.

If you harddrive is failing, perhaps your workout is too harsh for HD based players? If so, Ipod isnt gonna be much more reliable...

I just got the Archos gmini xs200. I really like it alot. It is around the same size as many mini hd players, but has a 20 gig capacity. Researching on the internet doesn't give it justice for it's size. It is so small that it can fit in the change pocket (or whatever you call it) of my jeans.

You don't use any software for it, just explorer, the on player software organizes it into a library, or you can just browse the folders, which is sweet.

I don't know how reliable it is, since I only got it recently, *crosses fingers*

Before this thread basically went into Gruck's DMZ.... just get the ipod. It works great. It's not the best player, it's not the worse player. It's easy to use and the price is right.
