518 by far, its a 1600 dpi mouse

Definitely get the MX518 over the MX510.

Mx518 is slightly better (1600dpi, mx510 = 800dpi) with dpi resolution change with one button. For same price it's a no-brainer.

Theres also a 310 version which is slightly cheaper. Would you say there ins't much improvement over the 510+ wit this one?

Get the G5 or the Copper head if you want the absolute best.
Next in line, get the MX518. It has more gaming features than the MX510.

That is what I have, and I love mine. I've gone the cheap route with mouses before, they don't last. You figure, your mouse is heavily used, every day, mine is in any case. I'll spend a bit more for it, and see how it goes. So far, I am loving mine.
