Which mouse do you use for gaming? It will be for FPS use, so no optical please because of skipping, and no Razor Boomslang cuz I'm not spending that much hehe. Thanks in advance.

With that criteria... I'd have to recommend one of the Logitech USB models, depending on personal preference.

I use an Intellimouse Optical.
I have the sensitivity maxed, and it does not skip.
I sent my RazorBoomslang back.

Well I loved my MS basic wheel mouse PS/2. I like ball mice... but I can't use PS/2 Rate on my MSI K7T pro2-a boards (mouse goes all crazy even with "Don't detect"). So gonna look at some USB ball mice.

i use the MS intellimouse explorer. for a mousepad, i cut out a rectangle of cardboard from a folder or posterboard, and i tape it to my desk. i usually replace it every couple of weeks due to moisture warping the paper. i have found this to be better than any other solution for the optical mouse. since i have gone from the 3m precise surface to the paper, i never have any skipping. i think that the skipping problem has been overstated considerably. you just have to play around with it. once you get it how you want it, it is MUCH more precise than anything else, and very worth the effort IMHO.

recently replaced my old mice on the other machines with Logitech Optical mice for 20 something a piece.
no problems with those either.

I have played around with a MS Intellimouse Explorer with the new 33% better crap or whatever. It was on a dull blue generic mousepad and in counterstrike and unreal tournament I skipped whenever I tried to do a real quick move. Messed around with settings and tried the dull, fake wood desk, and it still skipped. Now, granted it wasn't THAT bad, and only happened maybe once every five matches on CS, but still, that's enough to get me killed in that match, and my ball mouse wouldn't have. I'll check into the Logitech USB line, thanks. BTW, I will use an optical for other games and general use, but for FPS it really does skip for me, maybe it's just my playing style of moving so fast.

Once you try a Mouseman you will never go back to some cheap replica (including Intellieye Explorer, yes tried that, didnt like it).

I used Logitech Mouseman+ and then one of the buttons started to act weird, after 3 years. Then I bought a Logitech Mouseman Wheel Optical, I have one at home and one at work.

Logitech Mouseman Wheel for me, but I think it maybe a little too big for fast twitching actions....

Logitech generic 2-button mouse and I play FPS most. I like it more than the cordless Mouseman which I've put aside for almost half year. It has much better precision and smoothness than Mouseman.

Playmaker,

Yeah I would say it has to do with your playing style. I can not understand how anyone would move their mouse that fast though since I also play Counterstrike, Tribes, and many other FPS games where twitch reactions are needed with no problem. Never understood how people could play with such a low sensitivity and whipping their mouse around all over the place. Since that is your style though, I would say try out a boomslang. None of the current generation opticals are gonna work well with when they are being moved really fast. Logitech and Microsoft both use the same optical sensor in their mice so it really won't make a difference what brand you buy.

I personally use a Microsoft Intellimouse Optical (33% faster) with a Ratpad and I couldn't be happier. I upgraded from a Microsoft Intellimouse (ball) to the Intellimouse Optical and it was like night and day for accuracy in games and in general windows stuff too. I also do a little bit of photoshop too and its great for that.

Ruubbish.
If you live in Columbia, SC and can make my mouse skip in any situation, you can have my computer.

Intellimouse explorer, with a Mead Fivestar notebook as the mousepad. The cover is kind of plastic-like. Absolutely no skipping, and excellent sensitivity.
