Which motor is better? GM's LS1 or Chrysler's new HEMI?

I mean better overall.. performance wise, durability wise, etc...

from what I read on the hemi, they heated it up to 250 degrees or so then ran -25 degree coolant through it and did this several hundred times in a row... ouch! If it can survive that it can't be all bad. I'm just waiting for Dodge to come out with a new Charger or something :)

The hemi will be going into various vehicles. The new Ram and several full size cars that will be RWD soon.

LS1

The Hemi is underpowered and not being put in enough vehicles, and Chevy owns the aftermarket performance crown.

As of now, LS1. It's hard to compare one engine which has been around since what, '97, and one engine which is brand spanking new. Given time I'm sure the Hemi will surprise a lot of people - as long as they put it in something other than a truck
