hey guys, im new in this forum, i have a question, i have to change my pc, its old of 5 yo, its better buy an Rampage Extreme III with i7 950, or wait 2 weeks, and buy Maximus Extreme IV with i7-2600k?
if you don't care about price, the maximus iv is the top of the line asus p67 board. it was out of stock at a number of places. Are you going to be overclocking? if not, most of the features are going to be wasted on you. Marlin listed a couple good gigabyte boards. If you are looking at Asus in particular though, you could go with the p8p67 delux, evo or pro. Anandtech did an article comparing the the "Pro" vs. gigabyte's "P67A- UD4" if you want to read about their features and how they actually perform.
additionally, all of the other boards mentioned do support overclocking and do a good job of it. So unless you just want the maximus, i would suggest taking a look at the others because they will cost less and are generally easier to find.
Any of the Asus P8P67 Deluxe/Pro/etc. should be good enough for overclocking. It is just more about what features you want, or rather _need_ for your computer use.
