Which motherboard to buy?

I have a flip chip 700mhz and was wondering what a good motherboard would be. The only thing i am looking for is 133mhz+ capabilities and a 1/2 agp bus multiplier. Ata 100 or 66 is really not too much of an issue. Looking at cusl2, but many say it is not good for overclockers because of cold boot bug.

Well you have two choices VIA133A or i815E

With that said I would take i815E over the VIA.

So you have the ASUS or the MSI or ABIT. ASUS is the best. The cold boot bug is pretty much an annoyance, not a problem. I get the same thing on my ASUS P3V4X occasionally. But it only happens every few hundred boots, and only then if I change the hardware setting in some way.

definitely want i815E. What's a good ABIT board?

some guy on anandtech described how often and how long it takes to get past the cold boot bug which he says happens a lot.

Hallo Syborg1211,

What is the Asus Cold bot bug? Could you please explain that to me, I cannot find the thread you wrote about

well, plenty people say that when you overclock and have it set to odd bus speeds other than 66,100, and 133, the motherboard has a problem with storing the speed. So when you turn the motherboard off, and turn it back on, it will be set back to default cpu speed. Then when you try to overclock up, you cant go immediately back to your overclocked speed, you have to climb up to the speed and also sometimes wont do high voltage immediately either.

I would just get a wacked out BX board like I did. I purchased the Soyo SY-6BA+100 Slot1 BX mobo and it features onboard IDE Raid, Ultra Ata 100, and a softmenu and more, along with being THE Most stable mobo I have ever tested in my life! Kudos to Soyo!

Abit's are so so, but got alot better.

The BX chipset as old as it is is the fastest out there, and gaurantees your memory and chipset core logic's will be running at full speed with a shiny new 700E at 933E or so, and a geforce 😀

Since when is the BX chipset guaranteed to support a 133MHz bus? Not ...
