Sorry about this stupid question I'm about to ask, but I have hardly any experience with motherboards and I only know the basics.

I'm going to build a computer, but stuck on the type of motherboard I should be getting... the hardware consists of P4 (2ghz+), 80gb+ hdd, cd-r, gf4 ti video card, 19" monitor (OT), want to support the best ram.. ddr or rdram preferably, psu, fans, modem, etc.. basically all the (pretty much) latest stuff.

Which motherboard would be best for this setup? keeping in mind I may want to upgrade later (try and keep it under £200 if possible :-])
Also, would I need many additional fans for this?

Thanks in advance,
Neil.

I faced this same question just a few days earlier. I went with the Asus P4T-E. It is a Intel i850 chipset with RDRAM board. I decided against the P4 533/400 hybrids using SDRAM. I'm also reusing parts from my 'old' computer. I've heard great reviews all-around about this board and 40ns Rambus RAM. Mine is still on order, hope to get it buy Thursday.

Old system:
Abit VP6 with 512mb PC133 ram
2x 1ghz P3 CPUs
Visiontek GF3 Ti200
19" Viewsonic PF790 monitor
60Gb WD hard drive
Creative DVD Rom drive
HP 8110 CD-R/RW drive
Soundblaster Live MP3+
Linksys NIC and DI-604 router
300 watt PS
