Which motherboard/proccessor

Well after I test my PSU today with the multimeter, I'm going to know that either my CPU or my motherboard is the problem. If it is either one, then I'm going to buy a new motherboard and proccessor. I will RMA the mobo if that is the problem, and sell the one I get back. If it's the proccessor then I will sell the motherboard, and make a keychain out of the proccessor :) Does this sould like a good idea? If I do this, then I'm going to get a KT133A or KM133 motherboard, and a 1.2 GHz or 1 GHz 266 FSB tbird. I was curious on everyones oponion on weither I should get KT133A or KM133, and which one. I have all of the other parts already...though I may get a new Heatsink/Fan because my Alpha 6035 is EXTREMELY hard to attach and I don't want to chip the core.

I would personally suggest the KT133A chipset and a 1.2 GHz T-bird. The KT133A chipset is pretty mature now and it performs well, in fact just about as well as most of the DDR chipsets that are currently available. The 1.2 GHz is also readily available and at a good price point.

Should I overclock? What's all this I hear about AXIA, and how risky would overclocking one be?

Overclock if you wish. If you want extra Mhz out of your chip for free. The AXIA scale from 1Ghz to 1.45Ghz+. So a 1Ghz and a 1.2Ghz AXIA will both overclock roughly the same.

Overclocking is only risky if you do not cool the chip properly or use excessively high voltages, which you can't do with an Athlon anyway unless you "voltage mod" your motherboard.

I say you wait for the Nforce and Palomino at 1.5ghz! Those paired together should ammount to a very powerful P4 killer. If you had to buy a mobo and processor right now an IWILL KK266 is about the best KT133A mobo out there! I hear the Epox 8k7a is the best DDR board. I would stay away from the KM133!

That sounds to be beyond what I'm willing to spend, if I had the money then I would :)

Yep, NelsonMuntz, I couldn't have said it better myself. That's the best combo...a KT133A and a 1.2Ghz. Anything above that is what you can overclock that 1.2 to anyway. You'd just be spending more money for no gain (except for maybe heat)

Most places are out of them (IWILL KK266) espcially the two places with the best prices, and resellerratings (newegg and allstarshop) should I just buy the Raid for a few bucks extra? It's $119 + $8 shipping.

How's the Epox 8KTA3? I could save $26 dollars and it seems to have good reviews. I know that the motherboard is not an area I would like to cut corners with, though.
