I want to build a htpc with an amd xp m 2400. Which motherboard would be better to use with this cpu? I would like to be able to under/overclock if I want. I will not be gaming. My main goal is build a cool and quiet system.

The ABIT is certainly the better for under/overclocking but it has active nb cooling rather than the passive of the ASUS which is a consideration for HTPC use.

I have the ASUS A7n8x deluxe rev 2 and it oclocks real easily and never has had any issues. BTW I am selling it and the XP 2500 Barton (OC'd to 2800) if you want them.....I am getting new CPU MOBO .......

I had an asus, but the memory slots all died on me. First two of them went, forcing me to run in single channel, then the other two went too. Replaced it with an NF7-S and it's going strong.

The NF7-S is an EXCELLENT board .. a classic .. great siund with Soundstorm and a a great OC'er. I have an ASUS and two ABIT's and an ECS board right now and I like the Abit NF7-S is very nice NF2 board.

Is there a list of heatsinks that will fit on the asus a7n8xe dlx? I tried asus' website but couldn't find any.

I don't think the Asus board can undervolt very low. Almost any heatsink will fit the Asus board, including the Zalman CNPS-7000.
